Transvaginal ultrasound has transformed the way many gynecologic conditions can be evaluated—providing detailed, real-time images of the uterus, endometrium and ovaries without surgery. Dr. Steven R. Goldstein was an early pioneer in bringing ultrasound into gynecology and has spent decades researching, teaching and advancing its use, including saline infusion sonohysterography.

This Resource Center brings together Dr. Goldstein’s articles and videos explaining how transvaginal ultrasound and sonohysterography can help evaluate abnormal bleeding, pelvic pain, ovarian masses, fibroids, the uterine lining and other gynecologic concerns—often providing important information before more invasive procedures are considered. It also reflects one of Dr. Goldstein’s central messages: ultrasound is highly operator-dependent, and its value comes not simply from having the test, but from how expertly and dynamically it is performed and interpreted.
