Bone Health

Healthy aging means more than treating osteoporosis—it means protecting your ability to remain strong, mobile and independent. Dr. Steven R. Goldstein has long emphasized that the real goal of bone health is not simply achieving a better number on a bone-density test, but preventing the fractures that can dramatically change a woman’s quality of life.

Bone loss can accelerate during menopause as estrogen levels decline, while age-related muscle loss, or sarcopenia, can further increase the risk of falls and fractures. Dr. Goldstein therefore approaches bone health comprehensively, considering bone density, fracture risk, muscle strength, balance, exercise, nutrition and fall prevention—not osteoporosis alone.

This Bone Health Resource Center brings together Dr. Goldstein’s articles and videos on osteoporosis, osteopenia, bone-density testing, menopause-related bone loss, sarcopenia, fracture prevention, exercise, nutrition and treatments for maintaining stronger bones. Drawing on decades of experience—including his former role as Co-Director of Bone Densitometry and Body Composition at NYU Langone Medical Center—these resources are designed to help women better understand their bone health and make it an important part of healthy aging.
